In contrast to the artist’s more science based concepts, this work – an Interactive water installation funded by the Christoph Merian Foundation – was influenced by the gallery location, directly adjacent to the Rhine and a small tributary. Autumn leaves floating past presented the artist with plan.
To build the installation Im Fluss, a pool was formed in the gallery space and leaves floated across the surface. These moved around gently in ambient air and water stream, producing a kaleidoscope of colour. The changing pattern of floating leaves and stalks was projected onto gallery walls using theatre lights.
